OAK CREEK CANYON, Ariz. (AP) - About a dozen homes were evacuated as a precaution after a small wildfire broke out in Oak Creek Canyon north of Sedona.
The Junipine Fire started about 3:30 p.m. Monday, is 12 acres and 25-percent contained. Crews believe it was sparked by a downed power line.
The fire is burning north toward the charred remains of the human-caused Slide fire. That blaze burned 31 square miles last month before it was extinguished.
Sedona Fire Department Gary Johnson says some homes near the Junipine Resort are being evacuated.
Highway 89A from the northern Sedona city limits to Slide Rock State Park has been closed.
