(KFYI News) – A Sun Lakes woman is under arrest, accused of trying to kill her husband while he was in the hospital recovering from surgery.
Chandler police say nurses at Chandler Regional Medical Center saw 65-year-old Rose Mary Vogel handling her husband's I-V pump in his room after an IV alarm went off at the nurses' station. The nurses noticed the IV fluid looked brown, and removed the line from the husband's arm. Vogel told the nurses that the line needed to be flushed.
Tests in the hospital lab showed the IV line had traces of feces in it. Court paperwork indicates that at the time of her arrest, Vogel's purse also contained three syringes. Two of the syringes had clear liquid in them, and the third one was empty but contained traces of a brown substance.
Vogel is a retired nurse who once worked at Chandler Regional.
